Practice groupCompensation Law
Tanya's practice encompasses all aspects of insurance compensation law and she has been active in litigation at the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts. She provides advice in relation to all aspects of both the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and the Workplace Injury, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2014. Tanya advises the Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA), agents and employers in relation to Serious Injury and Common Law Damages matters, as well as statutory benefits claims lodged under the compensation legislation.
In 2009, Tanya was seconded to the VWA, where she assisted in drafting amendments to the Accident Compensation Act 1985. This experience provided her with valuable insight into the operations of the state-wide insurance scheme and its impact on employers. She recently provided further advice to the VWA on implications to the worker's compensation insurance scheme resulting from the recently introduced Workplace Injury, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2014.
Tanya has also worked in the United Kingdom where she practised litigation specialising in professional indemnity and fraud.
