Gabriella specialises in property and energy subrogated recoveries. She regularly advises a range of insurers on litigation strategy and coverage issues arising from claims in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Experience
Prior to joining Lander & Rogers, Gabriella worked at a leading national firm in insurance litigation. In that time, she was involved in a range of disputes and subrogated recoveries.
Gabriella's present role predominantly involves providing:
- advice on recovery prospects all the way to negotiating settlement in litigated and unlitigated subrogated recovery actions, and
- property and industrial special risks policy advice.
Career highlights
Gabriella’s career highlights include advising leading national and international insurers on:
- a claim involving property, business and environmental damage in excess of $30 million arising from a train derailment in Queensland, involving instructions to pursue subrogated recovery and advise on complex indemnity and dual insurance issues
- recovery claims regarding property and business damage occasioned by transformer faults at power stations in Queensland valued at $17 million and $7 million respectively
- the defence of a claim against a transmission line owner arising from a power supply interruption event in Victoria valued in the hundreds of millions
- the defence of a claim in the order of $50 million against a former wind farm owner from its successor alleging a failure to properly disclose prior to sale
- large fire and water damage claims with combined losses in excess of $25 million in New South Wales and Victoria.
