Mark is developing his practice in insurance litigation in the areas of professional indemnity, directors' and officers' insurance, class actions, subrogated recoveries and the electricity industry. He is known for his technical expertise and commercial approach to litigation.
Mark has been at Lander and Rogers since his graduate year in 2014.
Experience
Mark has significant trial experience across a number of jurisdictions, including in Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Federal Courts. He has an in-depth working knowledge of court practice and procedure in these jurisdictions, which allows him to provide considered strategic advice to clients throughout the litigation process.
Mark also acts for clients and insurers in matters which are pre-litigation. In these instances he works with clients to develop strategies designed to best protect their interests and, if an action is commenced, defend or litigate the claim.
Career highlights
Mark's experience includes advising or acting for:
- insurers and successfully defending claims brought against solicitors following a month-long hearing in the Federal Court of Australia and a two-week hearing in the Supreme Court of Victoria
- insurers in a two-week subrogated recovery trial in the Supreme Court of Victoria which resulted in an advantageous settlement
- public entities and statutory bodies in litigation in the Supreme Court of Victoria involving contractual, negligence and judicial review claims
- clients on a wide range of policies, including directors' and officers', professional indemnity and construction policies.
