Lander & Rogers has announced the appointment of new finance partner Nicola Clayton in Sydney.

Ms Clayton joins from law firm Gilbert + Tobin and will play a pivotal role in further expanding Lander & Rogers' finance and projects capabilities, and supporting its rapidly growing transactions business.

Ms Clayton boasts a 20-year career providing structuring, strategic and risk management advice on multi-million-dollar finance transactions across a range of industry sectors, with a strong focus on real estate finance. Her clients include domestic and offshore public and private sponsors, developers, corporates, institutions, and bank and non-bank lenders.

According to David Morris, head of Lander & Rogers' corporate practice in Sydney, the decision to appoint Ms Clayton is a direct response to increasing demand from the firm's clients for leading finance expertise to execute the highly sophisticated transactions in which they are involved. "As the market continues to evolve, our clients require legal advisors who can navigate complex transactions and provide strategic counsel tailored to their specific needs.

Importantly, Nicola has a long history of executing market-leading deals with some of the most respected names in real estate and private equity, but equally has deep experience in advising in the mid-market. This positions Nicola perfectly to assist our clients with their financing needs," said Mr Morris.

Ms Clayton noted she was delighted to have joined the partnership. "There is a real sense of energy and a clear strategic vision within the firm. Joining Lander & Rogers represents the perfect opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of lawyers, and to leverage our combined strengths to deliver exceptional results for our clients. I am thrilled to be an integral part of the firm's growth strategy and look forward to working with our clients to help them achieve success and, in particular, to navigate the challenges brought about by the current economic conditions," affirmed Ms Clayton.

National corporate practice group leader Jackie Solakovski warmly welcomed Ms Clayton to the team, noting her vast experience and network would contribute significantly to the firm's continued success and further enhance the practice's capability in providing a full-service offering to clients. "Nicola is widely recognised as a leading banking and finance lawyer. She will add great strength and capability to our transactions practice, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the firm," said Ms Solakovski.

The announcement follows Lander & Rogers' appointment of insolvency and disputes partner Jonathon Turner in April 2023 and the promotion of 35 lawyers including nine to partnership at 1 July.
