Eleni advises on statutory benefits, serious injury and common law damages matters. She has extensive experience in conducting personal injuries litigation for both plaintiff and defendant firms. Her previous experience as a senior legal manager at an insurance agent provides her with a unique insight into claims management.
Experience
Eleni joined the firm in 2011 and has more than 16 years' experience conducting litigation in the Victorian Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts, including judicial review and appeal matters.
She has a varied practice which encompasses Victorian statutory benefits and common law claims and issues under both the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 as well as the Commonwealth worker's compensation scheme pursuant to the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988. Her key clients include WorkSafe Victoria and the NAB.
In relation to her past experience as a solicitor for one of the largest national plaintiff firms, Eleni successfully negotiated settlements for intellectually disabled men who had been psychologically, physically and/or sexually abused whilst in the care of a Church Order.
As a Senior Legal Manager of one of WorkSafe's authorised agents, Eleni managed the Legal, Dispute Resolution and Impairment Benefits teams, provided legal advice to the business and guidance to the claims teams in relation to claims management and litigation, as well as providing training sessions for the staff and employers. She was also the liaison person between the business and WorkSafe in relation to legal matters.
Eleni's unique and varied experience and understanding of client concerns enables her to consider issues from a holistic perspective. She is considered by her peers to be an experienced litigator and strong negotiator with sound judgment and excellent interpersonal skills.
