Ian is a Senior Associate in Lander & Rogers' Workplace Relations & Safety team. Ian provides strategic workplace relations advice to both public and private sector clients across a broad range of industries, including education, retail, healthcare, and government.

He has extensive experience in both advisory and contentious matters, with expertise spanning all areas of employment, industrial relations, and work health and safety law, including:

  • interpretation and application of awards and enterprise agreements
  • enterprise bargaining and industrial disputes
  • unfair dismissal and general protections claims
  • wage compliance and regulatory investigations
  • disciplinary processes and termination of employment
  • work health and safety compliance and risk management
  • workforce restructuring and organisational change
  • responding to regulators and enforcement proceedings
  • managing complex and sensitive workplace investigations
  • general employment law advice and litigation.

Career highlights

Ian's career highlights include:

  • advising multiple universities on responding to investigations by the Fair Work Ombudsman, including developing strategic responses, managing regulator engagement, and implementing remediation measures, contributing to the resolution of matters without prosecution
  • assisting Victorian Government clients with complex and sensitive investigations, providing advice on process, governance, and legal risk in sensitive operational environments
  • advising on enterprise bargaining processes and supporting the negotiation and approval of enterprise agreements, including for Ambulance Victoria, Annecto Inc and Ryman Healthcare
  • managing sensitive misconduct matters across a broad employee cohort, including senior executives, in complex industrial and operational environments, and providing strategic advice on investigations, disciplinary processes, and reputational risk
  • representing clients in unfair dismissal and general protections matters before the Fair Work Commission.
