Jon specialises in directors' and officers' liability, professional indemnity, financial institutions, class actions and cyber risk. He has extensive experience as a defence counsel and, also, in monitoring and advising on coverage.
Experience
Clients instruct Jon in proceedings in the Federal and Supreme Courts, as well as in respect of examinations and investigations undertaken by liquidators, ASIC, ICAC and other regulatory bodies. The size of the claims defended by Jon ranges from low value claims to multi-million dollar actions.
Jon has acted, both in a defence and monitoring capacity, in class actions arising out of disclosures to the market, the collapse of financial products and managed investment schemes, consumer protection and natural disasters.
Jon is well-regarded by his clients and peers and is recognised in Best Lawyers in Australia for Insurance Law and Litigation, and in Doyle's Guide for Professional Indemnity. He was also a finalist for Insurance Partner of the Year in the Lawyers Weekly 'Partner of the Year Awards' 2016.
Jon is a member of the NSW chapter of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group, Australian Insurance Law Association, the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, and the Australian Life Underwriters and Claims Association.
