Kate is an insurance lawyer practising in medical indemnity. She advises and represents Victorian public and private hospitals, medical practitioners, nurses and allied health practitioners.
Experience
Kate's area of expertise is coronial investigations and inquests. Prior to joining the firm, she was a solicitor at the Coroners Court of Victoria, assisting Coroner's in all aspects of coronial investigations.
Kate has experience defending litigated and non-litigated medical negligence claims and advising in relation to investigations performed by regulatory bodies including the Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the Health Complaints Commissioner.

Kate's experience includes:
- successfully defending the matter of Phelan v Melbourne Health [2019] VCC 241
- acting in high profile coronial inquests including the inquest into the Thunderstorm Asthma deaths
- representing health practitioners who are the subject of a notification to the Australian Health Practitioner Agency
- negotiating the resolution claims against hospitals for delay in diagnosis, failure to diagnose and iatrogenic events.
