Sophie is a Senior Associate in Lander & Rogers' Commercial Disputes team. She has a broad range of experience in contentious and non-contentious across restructuring, insolvency and commercial disputes.

Sophie's clients include individuals (company directors, shareholders and insolvency practitioners), small to large corporations, Australia's major banks, financial institutions and government agencies.

Experience

Sophie combines a practical, commercially focused approach with meticulous risk management throughout each engagement. Her involvement in large-scale and public regulatory inquiries has enhanced her understanding of regulator behaviour, accountability, and policy frameworks.

Sophie holds the Advanced Certification in Insolvency from the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA).

Sophie's career highlights include:

  • acting for the secured creditor (CBA) in the liquidation of the Jewel Group of companies, including advising on public examinations and ongoing litigation
  • advising shareholders in a shareholder dispute and the subsequent voluntary administration of a water treatment company, including guidance on a deed of company arrangement proposal and a section 444GA application
  • acting for the liquidators of the Delta Group of companies, a mining services provider, in insolvent trading proceedings in the Federal Court
  • acting for a secured creditor and the appointed receivers and managers in the receivership of a property development company, including advice on the sale of distressed debt
  • advising a secured financier on recovery actions and financial exposure related to a manufacturing company in receivership
  • acting for a leading financial technology company during an investigation by the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC)
  • acting for the solicitors assisting the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.
